- Secure the BIOS setup with a password.
- Avoid installing any web server on the IG server.
- Avoid installing any ftp server on the IG server.
- Update regularly the Administrator password
- Disable the Guest account
- Do not install any email client software.
- Install an anti-virus software and maintain it regularly.
- Patch the Windows updates regularly.
- Turn to Manual or Disable the following services on the server:
- Alerter
- ClipBook
- DHCP Client
- Distributed Link Tracking Client
- Distributed Transaction Coordinator
- DNS Client
- Help and Suppor
- Internet Connection Sharing
- Messenger
- NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing
- Network DDE

- Network Provisioning Service
- NT LM Security Support Provider
- Qos RSVP
- Remote Access Auto Configuration Manager
- Remote Registry Service
- TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
- Telnet
- WebClient
